Efforts made toward a greener footprint and more energy efficient company are in place where we formally detail our path toward an improved environmental stewardship position as we recognize our responsibilities go beyond the operating costs of our business. See below our green manufacturing processes being practiced:
1. Optimization:
- Organized a compressed air leak audit
- Change HID department lighting to fluorescent fixtures
- Installed thermostats on 41 heaters in the factory
- Batch treatment TUP paint process 203k gallons of water saved
- Relocated air compressor, TUP machine loads 90% to 65%
- SPARTA efficient motor upgrades
- Day-Brite is taking advantage of a two percent reduction in electrical cost offered by TVA for reducing power during peak periods
2. Minimization:
- Water reductions from batch treatment in Paint department
- Pallet recycling
- All Metal Halide and fluorescent bulbs are captured for reuse.
- Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generator of Hazardous Waste due to the low volumes of waste generated from our operations.
- Sparta purchased cardboard, 100% recycled material
- In Tupelo, 93% of our waste is recycled (aluminum, steel, cardboard).
- Day-Brite was the largest industrial customer in NE MS to purchase Green Power from TVA - where the Lighting Institute currently runs on 100 percent green power produced from renewable sources - making this unique Institute a zero- carbon emissions facility
